In Some Places

Lots of men like to remember
inspiring spiritual stories
because they’re so depressing.

After the startle of hearing that
“no man is an island”
this one fellow immediately
applied for statehood.

In some places
it’s easier than in others
(but not by much).

A chap who once worked for the City college began mentioning a well known figure and saying how much greater he would have become, “had he lived,” until someone told him that the person was indeed still alive, and the guy said, “In that case he wasn’t all that great anyway.”

If you know how to leave somewhere real,
real – and I mean real, real and suddenly FAST -
you don’t have to ever go back.
