Warm Lions
/Today’s paraphrase (with apologies, C.O.D., to those who need them):
There is no salvation outside the City,
and outside the City none is needed.
Keeping up with the news,
won’t make it go a bit faster.
The difference between
“Being crazy” and “Going mad”
is a classic example of class prejudice.
Whilst in the grip of his biannual, philosophical frenzy,
one little dud dizzily declared, “Just ‘cause you can jump
out the window, doesn’t mean you're Superman.”
In the comforting history of metaphor,
if you are in Rome,
at the right time,
in the proper place,
and are a Christian,
they’ll always have a lion warmed up for you.
