As Though it Never Happened
/A certain person was asked why they never mentioned a certain tragedy that had recently befallen them, and they said, “As though it never happened.” “You surely can’t mean that,” came the reply. “It was so long ago,” said the person. “It was only yesterday,” insisted the reply. “So long ago,” said they, “as though it never happened.”
As he sent his boy off to tend to city affairs, a father advised, “Remember, think mediocre.”
