Secrets

A viewer (who signs himself, “A viewer”) writes to muse that, “Being civilized is never having to say you’re satisfied.”

during times of conflict,
the victor of the battle
was the side still talking.

“Dear Pa Pa,” said the kid, “My question is:  Have our betters already gone before us, or are they yet to come?”  (As you may have already surmised, this query sat the elder in a thorny trap.)

between trying to keep a secret,
and being a secret.

A large man in the park said, “A tiny person is like a tiny poem – they just go on and on forever.”  And his wife added, “That’s true, until you go right ahead and sit on them.”  And from his vest pocket the big gentleman retrieved a card that said, “Exactly!”
