The Tunnel

If you’re wet,
you won’t get dry.

Remember, boys and girls,
women and men, and
all ships at sea;
contemporary intelligence won’t get it.

Ordinary talk is always about that which already IS.
Revolutionist speech is not so easily described.

If the “truth” were a thing,
(as ordinary thought would have it),
we’d all be wealthy merchants living in the streets, starving.

If one of your City relatives tells you that he can
“see the light at the end of the tunnel,”
he’s telling you that he ain’t got much of a tunnel.
