Carriers-of-Destruction

Those who play Life’s game in the role of carriers-of-Destruction, are made to believe that man’s existence has no purpose, no aim, and for the sake of their contribution to the game, what they see as true for them, is true for them.  The church’s Satan serves the cause as well as does their Jehovah.

Those who See, see that all calamities turn to renewed survival and all destructions lead to expanded reconstruction.  It is all part of an orderly, ordained process of biological expansion, although it moves on such a large, slow moving and almost imperceptible scale as to be unseen by the minds of ordinary men playing their ordinary roles.

This larger scale of inescapable, mechanical evolution is a necessary consideration for the inquiries of the Serious.  But it is on the smaller, quicker, personal level that your active efforts are required for your own re-birth from our attempted self-destruction.

The elusive other third of the Forces-map, the Creative/Future, is not so simply approached by the mind, as are notions of the past and present.  It has nothing to do with the ordinary tomorrow-dreams of the sleeping.

As I have noted to you, ordinary men live out their days here engaged in furious, unsatisfying dreams of yesterday and nightmares of tomorrow…(or vice versa as the shoe fits).

J.

Future Force

A serious person must be able to transcend the impotent ideas of the past that made the forces into specific, individual god-figures and viewed them as separate, stable principals.  Such intellectual views are no understanding at all, and are yet another attempt for the mind to take a living, internal map and turn it into a manageable external one.  The time is far past for you to safely indulge in such satisfying fantasy.

No matter the pretext or apparent basis, anyone who says he understands “this-or-that-unchanging rule-of-the-universe,” indeed understands naught.  He may be a walking, talking compendium of exotic and esoteric maps, but he is a carrier of living-death; an unsuspecting supporter of past or present Forces.  As with all things, he serves his purpose, but it has nothing to do with the holy rebellion of the Few.

You have been further pushed to consider the reality of the Three Forces as being representative maps of man’s time:  his past, present and future.  Herein resides a method-of-methods.  It moves yet closer to the ultimate map in that it almost defies any attempt at verbal explanation and mere intellectual comprehension.

I could say that it is passingly possible to speak of two-thirds of this map, in that it may appear that you can mentally conceive of ideas of the past and present.  But justice prevails in that it is in the remaining force of-the-future that the method-of-methods awaits and the inflammable, creative potential eludes all reasonable exposition.

It is here, my friends, here alone that real effort lives. Not in the past, the force of destruction; and not in the present force of sustained, orderly process. They are both necessary indeed, but it is in the rebellious, extraordinary, un-orderly force of the future that our destination lives. This unknown journey leads in but one direction and all I do is point, point, point…

J.

The Three Forces

Many so-called Work systems in their day attempted to point toward the reality of Three Forces necessary and inherent in all activities on this planet-of-man.  And while some used apparent religious terminology, as was appropriate for the people of that time and place, you have heard them called by much more objective, impersonal names.

This may disappoint the emotionally imaginative, but it is a much better starting point for new understanding in this day and place.  No matter the names and maps, the reality remains constant for the alert.

You have heard them referred to as just the “Three Forces,” with the First representing the Creative Force, the Second the Sustaining, and the Third the Destructive.

Even though we now speak of them in such words, you must be continually alert for the mind’s intrinsic desire to make the labels firm and rigid, and the names into substitute reality and a blind for understanding.

The reality behind these names is most potent indeed, but as always, it is a living reality and not ultimately subject to the limiting demands of the ordinary mind.  The reality behind the idea of the Three Forces is the ultimate reality of change itself; the reality of realities; the objective truth of the subjective suspicions; the unstable destroyer of dreams.

J.

Causes and Effects

It is ordinary men’s fate to perceive of only problems and those of the Work, solutions.

Only those who accidentally draw close to the source speak publicly about god, and they lie to their listeners in that they say they have spoken to, or experienced, his presence when in truth they do not know what occurred.

As one begins to truly Struggle, he realizes that self-honesty is not simply a matter of wanting to tell the truth, but of somehow finding a place to begin.

There are no causes to be seen, only effects.  No “now” to be ordinarily perceived.  Every apparent sense-of-now is but a delayed reaction-effect of some previous cause, even though it may have occurred only seconds before.

Do not be so foolish as to search for causes; all you see are effects.  Hence, no one to blame; all are mere victims of effects.

J.

The Future/Now

Inasmuch as all things connect and ultimately reconnect even with themselves, the attempt to draw close to the creative force entails certain danger, in that one is brought closer to the force of destruction.

Men like to recall the past because it is safe and comforting; an escape from the need to push the future and live creatively.

Much of man’s so-called Fear-of-God is no more than his unspeaking biological dread of the unfeeling forces of original creation.

Life may be the biological gift of creation, but a profitable life is the reward of one’s own psychological evolution.

Some men say that things will somehow get better.  Some men say they will become worse.  But one-who-knows would say that things will become as they will become, beyond all of man’s verbal prophecies.

J.

The Living Have No Past

To live a more objective life of sincerity without induced seriousness is to deal in necessary agreement without commitment.

Ordinary maps direct one to a final, identifiable location, while Work maps only point to an infinite journey.  Even though one may discover a System close to the Ultimate Map, it too does not end, but rather throws one continually into new, uncertain places just beyond the last perceived point on the map; to be pushed toward the forever Future/Now.

The Sandy Path and all pseudo-systems adopt a rigid map and force reality to conform.  But we all know better than that…right?  (Although it may now and again slip the ole mind…right?)

The three forces can be considered as symbolic of the past, present and future, and with an ordinary man’s consciousness the present moves so swiftly to the past as to be almost nonexistent.  His sense-of-now is real enough for him, but it is simply whatever he attempts to sustain through his mechanical memory.  And consider that such memory is tied to the past, linked to destruction; the foundation of walking-sleep.

Real Work exists only in the future and only the Future/Now can be creative.  Even the apparent study of previously established teachings and systems are dangerous for the serious, in that what is actually being attempted is to understand an understanding of the past, which is no longer creative.  No matter what the natural mind may say, and no matter the apparent power of memory, that which is in and of the past is dead and dangerous to the living.  Only the living/dead can abide such morbific conditions.  The living have no past.

J.

The Tree-of-Life

Adam, the race of Man, could reach for either the Tree-of-Life, or the Tree-of-Knowledge,
with the former representing original creation, the past, and the latter symbolizing his earthly experience, his future.  In times of fear, ordinary men still return to a desire for the Tree-of-Eternal-Life rather than face the hardships of pursuing their creative future via the Tree-of-Knowledge.

The two aspects of biological and psychological evolution are now reflected in contemporary notions of the conscious and unconscious, and in religion’s ideas of spiritual and carnal man.  From this viewpoint the idea of man’s true essence refers not to a past state of biological crudeness, but to a future state of psychological refinement.

One possible description of the general basis from which one might act, in regards to the attempt to abandon all of the past, and push forever into the Future/Now, would be to say that one might become engaged in agreement without commitment.

Another aspect of this is in that ordinary men spend their lives attempting to come to grips with their induced maps, while those of the Work spend their living spending their lives.  The willful agreement to the necessary flow, of all forces, while secretly committed to naught but one’s own Awakening.

The objective study of oneself within the Work is the unknown realization of a patient freely offering himself, symptoms and all, for the therapist’s consideration.

J.

That Alone Do I Seek

When one is certain that things are going from bad to worse, one should become the leader of an aggressive cult as soon as possible.

The objective reality of life would not be seen as fitting into a pattern, but would be a pattern; not contained within a process but the process itself.

Why is it that men continually look for extrinsic, even supernatural help, in the seeming belief that they themselves can do nothing?  Could it be because this is indeed so?

No way is a Work way unless it transports the whole man.
No liberation is True liberation unless it frees the whole man.
There is no total liberation without total rebellion:
that which until now I have not found,
that alone do I seek.

J.

Foes and Fears

The neural Revolutionist is not interested in "solving problems."

(You might oughta think about this.)

If you have to apologize for the truth, you either

(A): apologize too much, or
B): have a funny last name.

Once foes and fears are fully recognized, opposing forces can salute and smile as they pass ranks. (The genetic collusion inherent in Life's expansion caters the camaraderie in the locker rooms of the National Wrestling Alliance.)

All thoughts are ultimately fungible.  (But it is still good for the Revolutionist to make his own as biodegradable as possible.)

You can civilize -- even housebreak-- almost anything

(except a man who can think).

King's Quest

All kings know that humor can't be jailed, fined or put on probation; it can only be executed—and the sooner the better!

Incongruity is the soul of discovery (unless you "know what you're doing" and then you're not going to discover anything anyway.)

Once a year, on the dot, at the spot, this one man would call all his children together and announce, "You're not my children."
(They and he were always greatly relieved-and-freed, and would celebrate with preemptive abandon.)

To be completely constructive,
or totally disruptive
requires a machine
with no second thoughts.

Just as he died, one ruler proclaimed, "History will exonerate me!"
and history said, "You better bring several changes of underwear."

Papering the Neural Floor

In reconsidering the "ole sorehead with the card," I am inclined to contribute to the sea of info for secondary swimmers by offering this expansion:

Life is like an “effect” without a cause.

It is easier to feel confident in your predictions if they're made while extremely pissed.

And yet another guy writes to say we haven't heard the last of him. (Which further erodes my already shaky support of man's belief that truth should "will out.")

This guy I know from another world spent part of his last visit here checking out man's literature, and became particularly interested in three dimensional, mortal concepts of life and death, and when he left he gave me his own little "poetic version" which reads,

Death is an immense journey,
and life but a short stop
at a wayside inn.

(You don't hear much insight and sentiment like that since everyone died.)

J.

Early Education

In the City, all family squabbles can only get worse.
And hesitatingly acknowledge a "P.S.":
First P.S.:  "I guess you realize what this suggests?"
Second P.S.:  "Yeah, either stay out of the City or out of families... )
(Perhaps I sometimes do not hesitate enough.)

One version of the First And Final Chapters of Secondary History:
What goes in must come out, except for the fact that what goes in was already out.

(To subversive minds that really "want to know");

Contra-Knowledge (note I said "contra-knowledge," not ignorance),
real contra-knowledge is always attractive...
(or at least, amusing).

A certain would-be thinker at the City college described his present intellectual state as, "Dead without conviction."

As believed by certain ancient, yet old, people, three is a magical number; point of fact:  Note how mysteriously though nicely this sentence itself regarding that wondrous number fits into three words.

Everyone had an early education they've forgotten about.

Immortals

I hear of this one little progressive City in Anthrovia's Galaxy whereon they have made the "Torture of Talent" at least a misdemeanor.

Things spoken critically of can't be changed.

Things described as broke can't be fixed.

The enjoyment of having a secret cannot be fully savored if yours can actually be discovered by another.

The civilized do not actually fear even the most barbarous of opposing philosophies, but rather those murderers among us who have no philosophy.

(The hordes of yore and the armies of today have no common battle ground, and hence all terror seems compounded.)

And yet another "ole sorehead" (but I must be totally forthcoming with you and note that he handed me a card that read, "I Am Not A Sorehead." but nonetheless he said), "Life is an illness without a cause."

The immortals never think to talk about it.

Simplicity and Enriched Simplicity

The simplicity of the primitive man
and the enriched simplicity of the Awakened.

Once, in jest, I told a man that being Awake would be in hearing an accordionist play “Lady of Spain” without despising the player, but I’m not so sure that was a joke.

In case I ever decide to write a series of books to “explain everything,” I’ve already got the titles.  My four volume set reads:

Vol I:      All Aboard:  The Steam Is Up.
Vol II:    On The Way: An Allegorical Departure
Vol III:   Full Speed Ahead:  Where To Now
Vol IV:   Home At Last:  Where’s The Damn Brake On This Thing?

(These books would, of course, carry the endorsement of the BACP:  The British Association of Chiropractic Psychiatrists.)

Within the life-of-Life, the mass of humanity is as its own organism, moving and expanding at its own speed.  There are two rates to this speed: the actual rate and the prophecy rate.  Both are of consequence and both exist, but without the former soon following the latter, they are not recognized.

Some mortal poet said that man is conceived in pleasure, and delivered in pain.  Now if this were twisted around enough you could probably learn something.

Maps and Traps: Hope and Fear

Just where in hell does your personality think it has been, and where  does it think it’s going, without the aid and comfort of mechanical hope and meaningless fear.

You all say you want to Awaken but
Who is sincere?

Who is serious?

Who can attempt to
 calmly face the truth?

You say you want to Awaken, but try and face those maps and traps that presently support your sleep.  Who will do that?  Who has the stomach and hunger to stage such an attack on gold ole fear and hope?

Without the same old ordinary implanted ideas of fear and hope, most of you still listen to personality’s promise that you would never amount to pig shit…and for once, it’s probably right.

J.

Two Ideas: Hope and Fear

You can see, if you are a person of strength and determination, one of the two holes motivating the small, individual affairs of you and the one next to you.

If we still spoke in such a fashion I would truly call them demons-of-the-first-order.  They both are devilishly tricky and subtle, and their routine power is always superior to any resolve of any ordinary man.

The power and charge of these two ideas/holes is such that they operate on a worldwide level, so entrenched by habit and mechanical acceptance, that they can carry their germs and errors even into the life of a person attempting to Work Struggle, and they go generally unnoticed.

Many of you now easily refer to my little friend Zork, and tacitly allege some familiarity.  But he still operates and controls in his necessary manner by many times falling back onto personality’s mechanical, mental dependence on false hope and foolish fear.

If this all seems to be too theoretical, then ask yourselves how you suffer and complain without these two grand, grand ideas?  Ask yourselves how you are emotionally injured and how you attempt retaliation without these two splendid demons?

J.

Two Holes: Fear and Hope

There are two additional holes I may punch in the routine map of ordinary man’s intellectual awareness, through which you may peer and reconsider certain of the unacknowledged forces that threaten to carry us all to a brutish, unenlightened end.

The two holes or ideas to which I refer are the mind’s notions of fear and hope.

From a certain position-of-consideration, you can see all of man’s so-called, emotional and spiritual interests based on these two forces.

You can see all of mankind’s ideas of their self-named gods as reflections of either unacceptable fear, or extended to irrational hope.

Which of the two may be behind a particular instance will be related to whether the person is presently identified with the horizontal past or the future.

To be continued…

An Experiment with the Voices

I have an experiment that can afford quite revealing and brand new information.  Start saying aloud a string of given names while trying to say simultaneously in your head a different name.  For instance, you could begin by saying aloud, “My name is Al” while at the exact same instant say in your head another name like “Mike”, and as soon as you’ve done one name, quickly move on to saying another one aloud, while trying to simultaneously say in your head that you are a different name.

Watch and decide:

Is the inner voice faster than your speaking voice?  Can they actually work independently at the same time?  Do they have distinct, separate abilities, if so, in what observable way?  Moreover, using my present model and the above experiment, answer this:  What then is the state of “sleep”?

After pondering that, I ask again, might the physiological reality to the concepts of “being awake or enlightened,” be an uncommon situation in the brain wherein, (as opposed to routine), the awareness part of the brain, (vis-a-vis the voice), has for the moment become so strong that it either overrides or at least ignores the voice?

Could it be that all extraordinary “mystical states of consciousness” are a set of neural circumstances in which the awareness of the brain becomes so dominant as to constructively constitute the totality of consciousness, for the moment, with there being no neural stimuli present in consciousness of which to be conscious?   An inner peace and quiet, and certainty entirely unknown in ordinary states of nervous system consciousness.

As concerns the “Experience-of-Enlightenment”:

There are those who have had the “experience,” and then there are those who “know what the experience is.”  Those who have had the experience and then undertook the study thereof, having the experience and knowing-what-it-is are two different things.

And now, what should be the “Final Word” regarding the mind:
There is no “Final Word” regarding the mind – a fact forever beyond the mind’s comprehension.

J.

The Great Law of Chaos

I’ve decided to try my hand at mystical rhyme:

Red sky in morning, sufi take warning.
Blue sky at night; yogi take flight.
Green sun dawn, swami’s gone wrong.
Pink moon at dusk, who can you trust.?

That which is Caesar’s meets that which is god’s…film at eleven.

There was once a hermit who somehow had gained the reputation of being wise and enlightened.  One day a messenger came to him with an invitation for the recluse to be a featured guest at a well known annual gathering of religious leaders, yogi’s, gurus, and famous swami’s.  The old man told the messenger, “Tell ‘em all to go to hell.  If I wanted to associate with trash and maggots I’d go sit in a room by myself.”

I know that oftimes my speech seems vague and obtuse, but let me mention to you one specific absolute:  The Great Law Of Chaos, the rule of random certainty.

It matters not what a sincere man may temporarily believe, say, or teach as the truth, so long as his extraordinary Aim remains firm and constant.

A subjective man wants to see what he wants to see while an objective man wants to see what is to be seen.

J.

The Method of Continual Talking

Examining my model of “self-remembering,” or to be constantly “mindful”; from such a perspective, a person desiring to alter the arrangement of things in the conscious operations of the brain could then, not improperly, look upon the voice, the talking part of the brain, as being the prime manifestation of all that they want to change about the world taking place in their head.

Simply put:  the “voice” is the “enemy” so the aim must be to “shut it up.”  And remember what we’ve already established here:  if you talk aloud, the inner voice stops, or else demonstratively is so subdued as to be made constructively silent.

So why not use an approach to the “further awakening of consciousness” such as “The Method Of Continual Talking”?  A path to enlightenment requiring only incessant talking, so as to keep your awareness off the inner voice.  Would this not be the simplest, if not surely the most popular approach to enlightenment ever devised?!

From this view, living a life of silence in a monastery would be the worst thing to do.  Instead, go into town and talk up a storm!

This, parenthetically, brings around again the question:
Is a man “asleep” if he doesn’t know that he’s asleep?
Also, by the way, a question that only a man asleep can answer to his own satisfaction.

Just for the fun of it, really ponder that:  a question about the mechanical nature of man to which only a man totally mechanical can adequately response.  (What further hint is needed?)

Within this present, verbally limited potential, ask yourself this:

Which works faster, the voice,
(the talking part of the brain),
or the awareness of the voice,
(you, the apparent listener to the voice)?
