Suggested Title: Mushy Areas of The Mind
Begin: Something I find useful (can’t explain how I use it) is the interesting fact, that the first writings and oral traditions are all about God or gods. If you ask an ordinary person why, they would say it just proves how important God is. The minority view, Jan’s view, would be why is there not another view?
05;00 What would six billion people say of another possibility/view for the flowering of consciousness? Consider/picture the first humans being conscious. Imagine the atoms of consciousness, firing up, thru all cultures, Thoughts just happened. And thoughts helped with survival/progress.
10:00 But how come this other view/possibility that thought could be other than God is in the minority? The very first writings and oral traditions (no matter the culture) are of gods, not wars or love. (Unless the Gods were at war) Consider how different history would be without God.
The local ideas of God were mostly that they were invisible. Greeks had their gods as invisible spirits living on Mt Olympus. (One hour drive from Athens with a good car) Bur what if the flowering of consciousness/talking part of the brain had been looked at in a different way?
15:00 I have no answer and have nothing in mind. I am just trying to get you to consider how the mind is infinite and infinitely unstable. (not mental illness unstable but mushy unstable) The mind is more like a three dimensional spiral than a merry go round.
20:00 The three dimensional spiral is infinite and infinitely unstable and in non physical matters the mind never gets to the root of the problem. It is a simple observation but hard for the mind to see. No one knows (I don’t, you don’t) the root/first cause of non physical problems.
Even success in fields such as medicine, which extends life, have not been able to get to the first cause of an illness. No one sees, the human mind cannot get to the root of a problem. The exceptions being something humans did physically. (Build an engine, repair an engine)
25:00 There is nothing innately in the mind to stop the mind, which fits right in, with there being, no root to the problem. From one view it is the mind’s greatest talent. (ex. technology) The mind’s speculations make progress in the physical world possible.
30:00 The arts, for example, when comparing twentieth century art to nineteenth century art, is not necessarily progress. You may like the new art better than the old art. (ex. Bach v. the Beatles) But who cares. It’s not progress. Its change. And just step outside the arts (ex. politics and religion) and its social change not progress.
Technology extending life, is progress. The ordinary could see this for a second. A change in the taste of music, it maybe something you like better, but it is not progress in the sense that extending one’s life expectancy is progress.
35:00 People don’t mind the arts being attacked. (You can always shift the blame to the arts. It has always been on the fringes of society.) But when it comes to religion/politics, people’s personal darlings, people do not mind you picking on a pig in another person’s yard.
40:00 Avant Garde theories, concerning things like crime, regulate themselves. It is one reason people cannot see the mind is infinite. The mind being infinite is usually seen as being positive but for this discussion, the mind being infinite is why the mind cannot come to a definitive conclusion.
It is one of the reasons mathematics is singular. Mathematics reigns the mind in. In non physical matters math is where infinity is lacking. (You can still come up with childish questions like “what is world’s biggest number?”) But 2+ 2 = 4 all over the world. (day or night, hot or cold)
45:00 I find it useful to consider, that since recorded history - twelve billion or so people who have lived on the planet, few, if any have ever noticed, that the mind cannot come to a definitive conclusion. (Getting to the root of non-physical problems)
If humanity had, then the question “How do we cure it?” (ex. the non-physical, crime, poverty, mental illness) would be of a whole new complexion. I don’t see how ordinarily anyone can even see it. I can barely put it in words.
In the non-physical affairs of man, the problems, the speculative theories, the treatments, and the mind never sees a definitive answer. (ex. What causes crime and then what cures it?) It is a mushy area for the infinite mind.
It is like the mind gets tired, it starts getting dark and late, and trying to follow the idea, the mind gets mushy, and wants to go back, and I say no, not yet, I want you to realize there is no end, to a definitive answer to a non-physical problem.
50:00 It is not the purpose of the human mind to come up with the root cause of anything non-physical. (ex. The mind’s idea of God) The mind does not have the ability to reach definitive conclusions, even if there is one. The mind can only speculate on the first cause, of anything, non physical.
The mind is made to speculate. It is what makes progress possible in the physical world. The mind looks at things but does not see them as they are - it sees them as they could be. Therefore it can damn near cure and treat diseases that were fatal a hundred years ago,
I am trying for a bit more scientific view of the mind. The fault is in not finding a first cause. It is the mind is incapable, even if there is a first cause, of ever seeing it. Even if the mind sees the first cause, all the mind could do is speculate on it. (ex. can I put it on a muffin and eat it)
55:00 When the mind speculates on the physical world, it benefits technology/survival (directly and indirectly). And when the mind looks at non-physical problems, (crime, morality, etc.) , the problem will not stay still because the mind is fluid, infinite, and unstable.
The mind’s speculations in the physical area, (technology/survival) is its prime talent. But in the non-physical area, (crime, morality, etc.) the mind’s speculations turn the problems into silly putty. Constructively, me. you, six billion people, contemporarily, never even conceive that their could be another explanation besides God.
60:00 Understating, my view is closer to the truth, than the view of six billion people on the planet earth. Knowing this, I am faced with the twelve billion people who have lived on the planet, who have never seen the mind from this view.
I find it useful to realize another explanation besides God. Life is simple. You don’t have to look for the truth, you are stepping in it. Coming up with examples on your own would increase the chance of the usefulness striking you.

Suggested Title: Attempts To See The Mind
[Reads]
“Until he discovers for himself that what ordinary men call their “Mind” simply isn’t there, and the only time it can apparently “find itself” is at the exact moment it is looking for itself, (which with ordinary men is a relative, non-event.) “ JDN 082800)
Begin: What I keep saying, in different/same ways is, when you try to study the mind, you can’t find the mind. After years of looking, having been in states of waking up, I made up the view, that waking up was “the mind" being able to turn and look fast enough, “the mind” sees “the mind” in toto for what it is.
Turning the mind on itself and the mind being able to see itself is what’s behind the experience of waking up. (being enlightened, etc.) Which I say (for reasons I’m unsure) few people who experience “big time awakening” ever get to the bottom of. Simply, the mind sees/understands itself.
And this experience (the mind sees itself) is in spite of the fact, I say, that when the mind looks for itself - it’s not there. Because (even if I made it up) you don’t have but one mind. So how can one mind, walk away from itself, turn around, and look for itself.
05:00 It is breathtaking, it will save you twenty-five years, if you (the mind) realize the thought that wants to wakeup, the thought that feels the other thoughts are asleep/unworthy, (and I agree when I am that thought) it’s only the mind “attempting" to wake up.
Here is the other side/view, “The mind does not exist until it looks for itself.” Speaking on behalf of the reasonable, that is certainly not true. The mind does not exist. until it looks for itself, is almost the opposite, of the mind can’t find itself, because it is itself.
If you don’t see it, prove it to yourself, not me. (It may take awhile) I want you to be uncertain whether this is literal or metaphor. The mind does not exist until it “attempts” to look for itself, until it “attempts” to self remember, until it “attempts" to wake up.
10:00 Even more astounding is considering that everything humans do that does not require things tangible in nature is all in the mind. (including attempts to see the mind) Look how little of life is taken up with food, (growing/eating) defending the household, and physical actions to get one through the day.
All the rest is imagination and would not be there without men’s mind. Last time I brought up the flowering of consciousness, the talking part of the brain, the mind’s ability to talk and hear itself talk, was the origin of gods. Why did the mind do that?
15:00 Maybe the mind looked around, seeing how humanity had created the wheel, thinking then, maybe something created humanity/physical world. Then the mind thinking, maybe the mind/talking part of the brain is God, but since it was the only voice in the head, it had to know what it was doing.
Why didn’t the talking part of the brain/flowering of consciousness say (instead of making up God) this is your brain talking. I am useful. I can be fun in your free time, and I don’t cost any money?
20:00 Because of my relentless efforts to see “what’s going on” a whole new view of these efforts “to wake up, to see the mind, etc. - I don’t see them as being, not ridiculous, not humorous, but how about jolly good. (It’s a British term meaning Jolly Good)
The biggest part of one’s life is spent in secondary reality/non-physical world. Sex, eating, and what you do for a living is excluded. And this whole secondary reality is taking place in an area, literally, smaller than a soccer ball.
Ordinary people may see this view as a metaphor. For example, reality is colored/weighted by what one thinks about it. The ordinary may say they see reality with their mind’s version of it. But ordinarily they could not see secondary reality taking place in an area smaller than a soccer ball.
25:00 Looking around at life I see a fascinating picture where 95% of what everyone is doing at any moment (their sense of reality/civilization) is taking place in an area, that will fit into the size, of a man’s brain. This thing (civilization) that covers the entire world, being anything not natural to the planet.
It should make you smile, maybe eventually wake up.

Suggested Title: Pre Preconceptions
Begin: Reads: The reason that no one’s views or opinions, including your own, are of any use in getting to the “bottom of things” is that all views and opinions are “preconceived” and if that was not bad enough, they were never “preconceived” by the people who hold them.
Views and opinions arrive in your mind already preconceived and ready to rumble. How else do conversations flow so effortlessly between strangers and neither one knowing what the others going to say? All knowledge of secondary matters is not knowledge but opinions.
Thus all knowledge in things, in secondary matters, (ex. politics or religion) is preconceived and not representative of actual circumstances. The words that constitute secondary matters are representative of nothing other than themselves.
05:00 What ordinary people call knowledge in secondary matters (ex. religion) are beliefs, opinions, and views. And if your mind’s preconceptions and opinions are listened to, you take them seriously, and its almost impossible not to listen to your mind.
10:00 Your mind may say it knows the difference between an opinion and knowledge but to put it bluntly secondary matters (ex. politics) are not tangible survival enhancements. Secondary matters are of that world that grows out of the mind.
The mind does not think about “what it thinks about”, as its momentary opinions. A person’s mind does not think it is dealing with anything other than knowledge. You might want to think about why the mind came up with opinions, beliefs, and views.
15:00 The mind may say it does not have sufficient knowledge to go forward with a matter, but if you look, that is also an opinion. All opinions are preconceived even if they are seen as having value. If the opinion is made in advance it’s a preconception.
All opinions/views are preconceived decisions made about something beforehand. And they are not preconceived by you. If it is not knowledge based on objective realization, it’s an opinion. And assuming you can see it, a preconception/opinion is something you already decided, a pre-judgment has been made.
20:00 How can you preconceive something? How can you decide about something before you decided about something? Or playing dirty “what are you going to say next?” Ninety - nine percent of what people say has no significance.
Someone emailed saying he enjoyed my writings which was followed by two or three paragraphs of how his life sucked. I wrote him back and said there are two kinds of suffering, worrying/whining about a root canal and having the root canal. And one is worse than the other; and most people don’t even recognize the difference, and then signed it Best Regards.
A few hours later he wrote back and said he understood and then went into even greater detail about how his life sucked. Normally that would have been the end of it but he showed flashes of understanding.
25:00 I then wrote a note back and stated, “After further study I agree with you. Your life obviously sucks. I guess I didn’t see it at first.” I didn’t send it. But what if I had, would it haveaccomplished anything? I guess it could have shook him a little.
But knowing people and their mind what would be the possibility of him getting anything from it? The reason I brought it up is to point out - it is damn near impossible not to listen to your mind. For the moment, lets assume you can’t shut the noise of the mind off.
Six billion people, minus a few, do not notice the noise in their head, that I rant about. Auditory adaptation, for example, is how someone working in a steel factory gets accustomed to the noise of the place. But there is a difference between cutting it off and listening to it.
30:00 You entertain the mind, take it seriously, when you listen to it. Consider how it is almost impossible not to listen to the noise in your head, and then consider that if you do listen to the noise in your head you will take it seriously. It could be a task. (set aside and hour and just look)
You don’t think about taking seriously what goes on in your mind. That could be enough to wake you up. You never “not” take it seriously. The mind may say different by saying - there is stuff I don’t like and will argue the point.
Which leads to “I am either a moron or engaged in self deception." Finally down to good choices. What goes on in the mind, almost entirely, is nothing but preconceived opinions, prior judgements in secondary matters, (ex religion) that are shipped into you.
35:00 Your mind may make it sound like the preconceived opinion started out with one piece of knowledge, like stumbling onto the wheel of an automobile, then later the chassis, and then later putting all the pieces together to make the automobile.
Except that is not what occurs and no one seems to notice. Preconceived opinions come to you full blown. They are not something you found. They are shipped in to you, fully formed, ready to go, right out of the box.
Have you ever been thinking and mid thought the opinion falls apart? Picture a tractor trailer driving by, and half way thru the tractor trailer just falls apart and disappears. (which can’t happen) Consider “have you ever had a thought going thru your mind and mid-way your mind went “wait a minute” the rest of the thought is not coming?”
40:00 First part of the thought/opinion was ok - what happened to the other part? It never happens and no one finds it curious. If preconceived opinions were your own you could take the credit and the blame. No one seems to notice the mind does not start blank. Here is the real point I am working up to tonight - “ Our lives are preconceptions.”
45:00 Driving home tonight consider - everything I think (99%) is a preconception, and the preconceptions are not even mine. A preconception is not thought about before the preconception. A decent mystic could think about “how my life is a preconception.”
Preconceptions cannot be denied or confirmed. Unlike pre destination which you either believe or don’t believe. It may be life’s sleight of hand to keep man from pondering “my life is a preconception.” Views/Opinions/Beliefs and the lives people lead are preconceptions.
Obviously it is something life does not want us to think about. I don’t know if it is true or not true. It is just a view I found on my own. It was just laying there, with a flipper hubcap on it. It started talking to me. “The lives men lead are actually preconceptions.”
